It starts out with Batman narrating the opening credits, which was kind of funny. And then goes into Batman saving Gotham. There's the new commissioner, Barbara who wants Batman and the Police to work together. And he's not about to have any of it. And then there's Dick, who somehow comes into his home without him even realizing what he's doing. Alfred is there, being the father figure that Batman doesn't realize he needed. The main bad guy of course is Joker! And their interactions are wonderful. It has so many bad guys that you would expect, and ones that you wouldn't, which I loved and got very excited about, being the nerd that I am!
Its a movie about exploring feelings and the need for family and friends. It shows that it doesn't always have to be a one person show! And that people, regardless of what type they may be, are important!
There is some violence (of course) and some dark humor that may be above kids heads, but it's still a fun movie for them. And adults can enjoy all the of the adult references and the throw backs to all the previous Batmans!
For a fun family movie, The Lego Batman Movie would be a good choice!

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman (Will Arnett) – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s (Zach Galifianakis) hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
