Start of week 2

Well today starts week two of our cloth diapering adventure. Last week went rather well. There were only a couple of leaks, but I will blame it on the diapers that didn't have hip snaps, which seem to work really well with Baby A. I've got my favorite bands of diapers so far: the Cartoon ones that come from JC Trade that I got from a co-op group (ones like the Patriotic Owl and the Dr. Suess ones), the Kawaii ones that I have (some a friend gave me and a couple of bamboo ones that I've purchased) and while I do like the Happy Flute ones, I wish they had hip snaps, but hopefully when I get some of the ones that I have on order I can sell those to buy ones that have hip snaps, but they will do for now. As for the type of inserts we have been using, since the diapers we have are all Pocket types, we've been using microfiber and then the occasional bamboo in the bamboo diapers that we have. Both seem to be doing well for us, I'm changing her every 2 to 3 hours anyway. I have some charcoal bamboo inserts that I ordered that I can't wait to try. I've heard they are really good at absorbing, and I could use those in the cover that I have (it's got butterflies on it so I kept it while I've been trying to sell the other covers that I have to get more pockets).

Updated photo of her stash. On the bottom of the Large Utility tote is the inserts that aren't being used and a few diapers that I'm not fond of but will keep if we need one during wash day. The top of the picture is her stash. Happy Flutes on the left, Kawaii's in the left middle, Cartoon (JC Trade) top of the right middle, the butterfly is a Babyland, the two after that are BeBe Express, the bottom one (the Aloha print lol) is a Kawaii Good Night Heavy Wetter. The row on the right is all Cartoons. I need another tote once the others ones I've got ordered come in.

Top left is a Kawaii Bamboo, the purple hearts is a Happy Flute. I like it because its a minky (soft fabric) one, but I don't like it because it doesnt have hip snaps which help really well with keeping her from leaking. The owl one is a JC Trade or Cartoon one and the blue one is a Kawaii Good Night Heavy Wetter. It's thicker and great for overnight, if you use both inserts, which I didn't the first time. Live and learn.

Day 2 of cloth

So we are on day two of cloth. Hubs did his first diaper change. It was quite funny to watch, but we got it on her. I am posting pictures to my Instagram, so if you are interested in checking out the cute dipes we are putting her in, head over to my page.  I am going to try and update Twitter more often too, but having two littles is oh so much fun, along with trying to get our house back in order.

First full day

in cloth!! We have used a cloth diaper here and there, but because we've not been staying at home, I opted to wait till we were home full time (which is another post coming up :) ).

Well it being no time like the present to use our stash that I've been working on, I put A in one of her newborn Alvas. We went to go visit a friend who was having a yard sale, and by the time we took the 10-15 minute drive there, she had soaked through, and through her cute outfit too. Oh well, I changed her into another NB Alva and we were on our way. We got home and a few hours later I changed her into a Bebe Express that a friend had gave me. I'm not a big fan of animal prints, but it's cute enough and it seems to fit her pretty well.

I'm hoping that we don't have any more leaks today, since we will be doing some errand runs, but I'm excited that we can start using them. Trying to get into our bathroom to do laundry isn't the easiest the way that the washer is sitting, but I'll make it work.

Cloth diapers? who would have thought.

Yes I am jumping on the wagon of cloth diapers. I had thought about it with D, but honestly I didn't like the idea of dunking diapers in the toilet and having to use pins to close them, but I've learned that it's not like that at all. Cloth diapers are soo cool and they have so many fun prints. The prices are high for some, but you can find some that are decently priced. Hubs decided two weeks before Baby A was born that cloth would be a great idea. We were at Target and he saw this box of Charlie Banana diapers and wanted to get them. I called my pal G and she said heck no, there are diapers that are wayyyyy cheaper. So she set me up with some groups on FB that I found diapers on. I have been put into a whole new world of things like co-ops to buy diapers and swap groups and just way too many things. I have started building a stash from used ones that I thought were good deals, which some were and then others were crappy diapers that would be great if they get fixed and they fit Baby A, and I've purchased some new ones. I'm hoping to find some ones that fit well with Baby A. And since D is still in diapers since our epic failure of potty training (which I will make a post about when I can), I have a few gender netural ones that I could put him in as well (when he is at home). I will prolly make some posts about our journey through cloth and hopefully  have a positive experience with it.
